Chapter 15

Mario

Stuart and Jake join me in my office as we wait for the private investigator to come. They are both in jovial moods since their divorces were granted just days ago; Jake much different than the mess he was when I brought Samantha to work her magic on comforting him. According to Stu, Rachel accepted the terms without a fight, but Victoria really did try to run Jake through the wringer. Luckily, the judge felt the offer was more than fair and sided with Jake.

“Do you think we could get Samantha to agree to stop hiding our relationship? I’m kind of tired of listening to Elena gush about how wonderful Mario is,” Stu asks, his voice dripping with envy.

I snigger, “I guess that depends on what Samantha wants. She seems to be quite proud of getting to be with this dick,” I point to my crotch, trying to lighten my mood. Joking around doesn’t unravel the knot that has settled in my stomach as we wait for the PI.

Stuart looks like he’s going to combust, so Jake intervenes, “Mario, give the man a break. The two of us have been living with secret lovers for over a decade. I think I speak for us both when I say that it would be nice to be able to show off our woman publicly; the one that actually loves us instead of just pretending. Being a secret lover really sucks.”

“Yeah,” Stuart agrees, “I have no idea how Rachel did this for so long. I actually have a bit more sympathy for her now.”

“We had all agreed to allow her to choose when she is ready and keep us as casual as she wants, even if she doesn’t want us all in the end,” I chastise them. And myself if I’m being honest. “We need to be open about how we are feeling and what we need, but we can’t put Samantha in a spot of feeling more guilt than she already feels with keeping it from Elena for so long.”

Stuart agrees, “Your right, Mario. It’s wrong of me to get jealous. I am sure there will come a time when she is ready. I can’t see her wanting to keep such a big secret forever. She just doesn’t have it in her.”

“I’m sure it’s normal to feel that way. We just have to be careful of how and when we let our negative feelings out,” I comfort him. “I think that we will all want to take her on trips not only as a group, but individually as well. That would be a way for you two to have the chance to be her boyfriends in public. We will have to work together to figure out a way to decide on rotations and make it happen while still keeping Samantha’s secret safe until she’s ready.”

Jake grins like a Cheshire cat and I know he’s got some idea churning in his head. “Let me work on that,” his tone matching the mischievousness in his face.
